Since our Giving Life blog launched last spring, we have featured countless community champions making an impact in their communities across the country through the simple act of volunteering.
We met Amanda, the compassionate cat cuddler who donates her time to Toronto Animal Services. We also heard the story of Ivana, a Canadian nurse who has twice volunteered for Global Medic during international disasters.
It is these amazing stories filled with care and generosity which we always love to hear, and now, it’s time for communities across the country to nominate their own community champions for the Prime Minister Volunteer Awards!
“The Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards recognize the enormous contributions volunteers, innovative not-for-profit organizations and forward‑thinking businesses make to their communities through voluntary contributions and innovative ideas and approaches to address social challenges. Volunteering, charitable donations and philanthropy all play a key role in helping communities to address these challenges, and these prestigious awards are an opportunity to recognize the tremendous contributions of many Canadians who work together to improve the well-being of families and communities across the country”.
The open call for nominees will recognize a total of 17 recipients as Canada’s leading volunteers, businesses, and not-for-profit and charitable organizations making an impact in their communities across the country. The awards will recognize 15 local leaders from coast to coast, and will also highlight two national volunteers.
Now accepting nominations until June 30th, recognize community leaders in your neighbourhood by nominating them for the Prime Minister’s Volunteer Award. Recognition will not only thank your favourite community volunteers for their selfless contributions to the community, it will also inspire volunteerism in other members of your community.
