You Made GivingTuesday 2020 a Success!

Thank you for an incredible GivingTuesday!

On Tuesday, millions of people around the world rallied together to take part in GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to giving.

GivingTuesday is always a special day, but this year it means so much more. I’m so grateful for every Canadian who volunteered, donated, or helped to spread the word about a charitable cause close to their heart.

It was truly incredible to hear about stories of generosity, like the group of volunteers in Montreal who collected over 719 pairs of socks for people experiencing homelessness so they can stay warm through the winter. In Charlottetown, 1,800 bars of soap and 250 masks were donated to those in need.

Canadians also donated generously. In just 24 hours, over $11 million was raised through CanadaHelps to support 9,366 Canadian charities — incredible.

In a year unlike any other, charities need our support more than ever to help communities in need, meet the rising demand for their services as we continue to fight COVID-19, and inspire change. Whether you gave on GivingTuesday, or you’ve supported charities throughout the year, I want to thank you. Thank you for feeding families in need. Thank you for caring for vulnerable animals and the planet. Thank you for making a difference by supporting a cause close to your heart.
