At CanadaHelps, the charities we serve are always at the front of our minds. Helping charities, particularly the small and medium-sized ones, raise much needed funds through our affordable tools, and connecting those charities with Canadians who are passionate about their cause is the reason we exist.
As a charity ourselves, we have a unique perspective on building tools that are not only easy to use, but also useful. Over the last 14 years, we’ve found that the best way to learn about our clients’ needs is to ask them. We’ve spoken to thousands of charities from across the country, and these interactions help us learn from our charity partners and better understand the ways they are making our communities better places. This is why we are delighted to announce that we’re welcoming Paul Nazareth to the CanadaHelps team as our new Vice President, Community Engagement.
Paul will be working very closely with our charity client base, as well as broader community of corporate and sector stakeholders, and enhancing our established charity education programs to help build the capacity of charities, and the entire sector.
Paul has been invested in increasing charitable giving and strengthening the charitable sector for his entire career. In his early career, Paul worked with Scarborough Missions, the University of Toronto Gift Planning office, and the Archdiocese of Toronto. At the Archdiocese, he served 226 churches and several charities representing over 1.8 million Catholics in central Ontario.
He joins CanadaHelps most recently from Scotia Private Client Group, where he’d been Manager of Philanthropic Advisory Services since 2011. The philanthropic services team (Canada’s largest) created comprehensive charitable gift plans centered on personal philanthropic priorities with solutions ranging from bequests and charitable trusts to donor-advised funds and private foundations.
Paul serves his professional community nationally and locally as a leadership volunteer with the Canadian Association of Gift Planners. He is currently instructor of the online Planned Giving course with the postgraduate fundraising program at Georgian College, is Chair of the Advisory Committee at the Humber postgraduate fundraising program, and is a national instructor with CAGP. A former board member of the Canadian Charitable Annuity Association, He is a board member of several charities that range from honouring Canadian Veterans to preserving his ancestral cultural values.
