On GivingTuesday, December 2nd, 2014, Acxsys Corporation (the architects of the Interac network) will match online charitable donations made through CanadaHelps.org or GivingTuesday.ca (powered by CanadaHelps.org) and paid using Interac Online. The organization will match up to $25 per donation made using Interac Online, up to a maximum total of $10,000 in matching dollars.
Terms and conditions
To be eligible, donations must be made on December 2nd 2014, from 9:00am ET until 11:59pm ET, towards any federally registered Canadian charity or non-profit organization. The matching dollars will be granted on a first come first served basis, according to the date and time the donations are received at CanadaHelps.org, until the maximum of $10,000 is reached.
If the maximum matching amount of $10,000 is not reached by 11:59pm ET on December 2nd, the Interac organization will extend the donation deadline for an additional 24 hours, until December 3rd at 11:59pm ET.
For charities that have a free CanadaHelps account and electronic fund transfer (EFT) set up, the Interac matching donation will be deposited directly into their bank account as part of the standard CanadaHelps weekly disbursement process. These charities will be able to clearly identify funds received as a result of the Interac matching program in the Donations tab of their CanadaHelps charity account; the donor will be identified as Acxsys Corporation and the note to the charity will specify Interac GivingTuesday Matching Donation.
Any charities that do not have a free CanadaHelps account and have not set up EFT, will receive the Interac matching donation funds by cheque in January with an explanatory letter.
Charities will receive the donor portion of these donations using the standard disbursement processes: via weekly EFT to charities registered for EFT with CanadaHelps or via monthly cheque mailing for charities not set up for EFT with CanadaHelps.

Hi,
Great idea. I updated my google calendar to remind me to send an extra gift to Animal Advocates of BC (one of my favorites) on Dec 2 to take advantage of the matching funds.
Cheers,

My banking website (TD Bank) is indicating bank cards that carry both the VISA and Interac symbols (which is the majority of new chip cards I’m guessing, since my card is relatively new) cannot be used to do Interac online payments – so I am not able to participate in the Interac online donation match program. Disappointing.

I would like to see the results with name of charity and amount. 3 of us gave and want to see if our donations were matched.
•Thanks… Jim
