Everyday across the country, countless caring and compassionate people make a difference in their communities through the simple act of giving. To celebrate these kind-hearted individuals, the Government of Canada is seeking nominations of community volunteers across Canada for their fifth annual Canada’s Volunteer Awards in celebration of Canadians making a difference. Open until February 3, nominations can be made of any individual or group making a meaningful difference, a not-for-profit organization, or a businesses making an impact.
Regional awards across the country will be awarded to emerging leaders that are youth 18 to 30 years old, community leaders that include individuals or groups, business leaders, and social innovators. At the national level, the Thérèse Casgrain Lifelong Achievement award recognizes a community volunteer with over 20 years of volunteer work.
Special awards and prizes will also be granted, including 20 grants of $5,000 will be awarded at the regional awards, and one grant of $10,000 will be awarded to a deserving winner at the national level.
Canada’s Volunteer Awards is also seeking regional reviewers to assess nominees and select the top three nominations in each category that will be viewed by the National Advisory Committee. Regional reviewer applications are also open until February 3.
